Student Profile
True North students are boys
and girls ages 14-17 who will benefit from
learning to identify limiting beliefs and
behaviors while building confidence and
identifying new strategies for a successful
future. Our students are often bright and
talented individuals who may be struggling to
find a sense of purpose or maintain consistent
success.
True North students may present
with:
• Oppositional or defiant
behavior
• Problems with school
• Low self-esteem
• Mild to moderate depression and/or
anxiety
• Negative peer relationships
• Learning differences including ADHD
• Experimentation with drugs and alcohol
• Dishonest and manipulative behaviors
|
Students that are actively
suicidal, have a history of self harm or violent
behavior, are at-risk for running away, or have
a thought disorder are not appropriate for True
North.
Families choose True North because they want
their child to be in a safe and supportive
environment where they can address their
struggles, build confidence, and prepare for a
successful future. Our families should be
willing to contribute to their child’s journey
by participating in regular communication with
their child and the program, and attending a
parent seminar and family workshop at the end of
their child’s stay. True North families can
expect a comprehensive assessment and clear
recommendations for supporting their child’s
continued success.
