True North students are boys and girls ages 14-17 who will benefit from learning to identify limiting beliefs and behaviors while building confidence and identifying new strategies for a successful future. Our students are often bright and talented individuals who may be struggling to find a sense of purpose or maintain consistent success.

True North students may present with:
- Oppositional or defiant behavior
- Problems with school
- Low self-esteem
- Mild to moderate depression and/or anxiety
- Negative peer relationships
- Learning differences including ADHD
- Experimentation with drugs and alcohol
- Dishonest and manipulative behaviors
Students that are actively suicidal, have a history of self harm or violent behavior, are at-risk for running away, or have a thought disorder are not appropriate for True North.
Families choose True North because they want their child to be in a safe and supportive environment where they can address their struggles, build confidence, and prepare for a successful future. Our families can expect unparalleled support and individual attention for their child and their family and our total commitment to a safe and appropriate peer community for their son or daughter. Our families should be willing to contribute to their child’s journey by participating in regular communication with their child and the program, engaging in the Parent Program and attending the family transition session at the end of their child’s stay. True North families can expect a comprehensive assessment and clear recommendations for supporting their child’s continued success.
