: Luke Foley

Field Director

Luke joined the True North team as a 2004 graduate of Colorado College where he majored in International Political Economy with minors in Spanish and European History. Since graduating, Luke has spent a significant amount of time traveling in the Americas for academic research, adventure trip leading, and just for the fun of it.

He has worked with adolescents in a variety of capacities over the years ranging from camp counseling to foreign travel, and eventually into this field in southern Utah where he worked as a field instructor at Second Nature Entrada for almost three years. While in the field, Luke became a Mentor staff and became responsible for training and developing wilderness instructors.

Luke transferred these skills and abilities to True North when he moved across the country after marrying his wife, Rachel. He began as a Field Manager, and eventually to Field Director where he now oversees the daily operations of the field department.

In his free time, Luke likes to read and write, ski, play with his dog Dozer. Luke also enjoys running... a little too much. He was a finisher in the Leadville Trail 100 in 2007 and is slotted to run two 50-milers in 2009. Luke's wife is really hoping he takes up some new hobbies that don't damage his body as much as running has.
