: Gerard Ganey

Transition Coordinator

Gerard has been an avid outdoorsman from an early age, beginning with his experience scouting, and later with the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS). Wilderness experiences led him to pursue and complete a degree in Environmental Studies with an emphasis in Outdoor Education at the University of Vermont. In February 2009, he completed a NOLS outdoor educator course in the Teton Valley of Wyoming. On a personal trip in September 2009, he completed a traverse of the Wrangell Mountains in Alaska, traveling 200 miles in eight days by foot and packraft. Gerard has over 250 days guiding at True North. There are few things that Gerard enjoys more than sharing his understanding of, and passion for, wilderness living with students at True North as he guides them through the transition process. He is a certified Wilderness First Responder (WFR) and Whitewater Technician (WRT).

A former college distance runner, Gerard enjoys spending his free time running, hiking, packrafting and planning personal expeditions.
